Creating Hope by Building Homes
Habitat for Humanity of Jessamine County is not a give-away program. We offer families in need a "hand-up, not a hand-out." Through home sponsorships, volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds houses that are sold to qualifying partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. Families qualify financially, make monthly mortgage payments and put in hundreds of hours of "sweat equity."
Applicants for homeownership go through a selection process, including a review of their financial status, job history and residency. They must meet income guidelines, have good credit and be willing and able to perform 250-400 hours of "sweat equity" to help build their home and the houses of their partner families. Partner families are also required to attend workshops ranging in topics from home maintenance to budget management. These workshops help prepare families for the responsibility of homeownership.
To begin the application process, you can pick up an application form at the ReStore, located at 317 North Main Street in Nicholasville, or click the "Home Partner Application" link to download the application in Word Format.
